Hey guys! I’m Lunaphire (also known as Luna, Phi, or Fi). You may know me from Twitch or YouTube, though at the moment I’m typing this I’m on hiatus due to a recent move.
I decided to create this blog for several reasons. I’ve been thinking about making a site for some time now, but the direct catalyst was this post from TextFugu. I wanted to have somewhere to talk about my language learning progress, largely to keep myself accountable, but also just to have somewhere to refer back to concepts I’ve already explored.
You might note that even though the post by TextFugu is about learning Japanese, I stated I wanted to document my “language learning” progress. This is because, while Japanese is the spoken language I’m studying — I’ll get more in depth in other posts — I’m also trying to learn programming languages, albeit much less persistently.
I’m not 100% decided which programming language(s) to focus on yet, but in the past I have previously studied extremely limited fundamentals of Small Basic (formally), JavaScript, Python, and C# (independently). Again, though, this was all just a very cursory understanding to begin with, and I’m rusty. I’m thinking I may try to focus on either UnityScript or C#, as I’m currently working on a game concept that’s been forming in my head over the past however-long, and I’d like to be able to create as much of the game myself as possible. But we’ll see.
Though I tend to pick up new programming concepts fairly quickly, it feels like the resources I find are almost always either very basic or rely on way more advanced knowledge than I can follow yet. With any luck, documenting what I learn here and trying to explain things will help everything stick.
At any rate, while my language-related posts will probably comprise the majority of this blog, at least at first, I don’t want them to be useful only for me. This is a public blog, after all; someone is bound to happen across it eventually. For this reason, I’m going to try to make my posts helpful to anyone who finds them, as well.
Personal posts might also show up here from time to time. I’m not sure just yet what else I’d write about, but if the mood strikes, we’ll see. Some of my other interests include:
- cats: such as my lovely, beautiful Rosecat~
- video games: follow me on Twitch, that way you’ll know when I’m back from hiatus
- voice acting: someday I’ll get back into it; I used to audition somewhat frequently, but I need to get my setup back together
- art: I draw, but not very well
- weeb shit: as if studying Japanese didn’t give this away
Anyway, I guess I’ll wrap this first post up. I hope if you stumble upon my posts, you learn something new!
